Welcome

I'm Glad You're Here

Where Understanding Leads to Change

You might be here because your child, teen, or even you are feeling stuck — the same worries, conflicts, or frustrations keep coming back, and the ways you’ve coped so far just aren’t helping. You don’t have to figure it out alone. I help families, teens, and adults uncover the patterns beneath their behaviors, so understanding leads to real change — not just coping.

I work with children (10+), teens, and adults to slow down, notice patterns, and uncover the emotions and relationships shaping daily life. Whether it’s anxiety, ADHD, OCD, addictions, relationship struggles, or behavioral challenges, I focus on understanding the full picture — not just the symptoms.

Parents and families are an essential part of the process when working with children and teens. I guide families through the changes of adolescence and puberty, supporting emotional growth, healthy boundaries, and conversations around independence, developmental challenges, and decision-making — while also offering individual therapy for teens and adults seeking insight, clarity, and lasting change.

If you’re ready for more than quick fixes — if you want to feel confident guiding your teen, strengthen your relationships, and better understand yourself and your patterns — you’re in the right place. I would be honored to walk alongside you.

About Me

Chaim Schechter, RCSWI

With over a decade of experience in school-based education and counseling, I’ve worked closely with children, teens, adults, and families navigating emotional, behavioral, and relational challenges. I create a safe, thoughtful space where clients can slow down, notice patterns, and better understand themselves and their relationships.

I’m particularly drawn to exploring the emotional patterns, inner conflicts, and relational dynamics that often underlie distress. My approach is collaborative, non-directive, and developmentally informed, with attention to family systems, life transitions, and the unique developmental changes of adolescence.

Therapy with me is about more than coping — it’s about gaining insight, strengthening connections, and making choices that feel aligned with who you truly are. I partner with clients to build awareness, resilience, and meaningful, grounded change.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who do you provide therapy for?

I provide therapy for older children, adolescents, and adults, as well as parents seeking guidance and support. I work with individuals, couples, and families to help navigate and heal personal struggles and family-related challenges.

What types of therapy do you offer?

I take a client-centered approach to healing. This means I focus on your specific goals when discussing the best treatment option. My approach is custom-tailored for your unique needs and is developmentally informed, relational, and strengths-based. I integrate evidance based practices and use therapeutic methods such as CBT, Psychodynamic, Family systems, IFS, and other therapies to help guide your process of healing and change.

Do you offer parenting support?

Absolutely. Parenting is at the core of healthy children and thriving families. I support parents in better understanding their child’s emotional and behavioral needs, strengthening connections, reinforcing boundaries, and developing practical strategies for use at home and at school, fostering confidence in their crucial role.

Do you offer online therapy?

Yes. I offer secure, HIPAA-compliant online therapy sessions via video call, making it convenient and accessible from the comfort of your home.

What if I'm not sure if therapy is right for me?

That’s completely okay. Many families start therapy feeling unsure. I view therapy as a collaborative, low-pressure process, and the first step is simply a conversation. I offer a free 15-minute consultation to explore your concerns and determine the best approach for your needs.

How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions required varies for each individual; this will be discussed during your initial session.

Is therapy confidential?

Yes, therapy sessions are confidential, and your privacy is my top priority.

What can I expect during the first session?

The first session is typically an intake appointment. We'll discuss your goals for therapy, background information, and any specific challenges you’re facing. It’s also a chance to see if we're a good fit for your needs.

How long is each session?

Most therapy sessions last about 50 minutes. Some sessions, such as couples or family therapy, may be slightly longer depending on the need.

How often will I need to come to therapy?

Frequency depends on your needs and goals. Most clients start with weekly sessions and adjust as progress is made. We’ll work together to develop a plan that works for you.

What are your fees? Do you accept insurance?

Professional fees are $175 per 50-minute session. While insurance is not currently accepted in network, I can provide superbills for out-of-network insurance reimbursement.

What if I need to cancel my appointment?

I have a 24-hour cancellation policy. If you need to reschedule or cancel, please notify us at least 24 hours in advance.

Will I be involved in my childs therapy?

Yes, parent involvement is encouraged and thoughtfully balanced. While children benefit from having their own safe, private space, meaningful progress occurs when parents are supported and involved in ways that respect the child’s developmental and emotional needs. Depending on the agreed-upon goals of therapy, active parental involvement, such as regularly joining sessions, can be a helpful part of supporting your child through their process.

Will I be informed during my child’s therapy?

Yes, parent involvement is an important part of therapy for children and adolescents. I share themes, progress, and general areas of focus, along with guidance on how parents can support growth outside of sessions. Specific details are kept confidential to protect the child’s trust, unless there are safety concerns or the child agrees to share. We’ll schedule regular parent check-ins to share updates without breaking your child’s trust.

What do you tell parents about what happens in session?

I maintain confidentiality with children just as we do with adults to build trust and therapeutic rapport. However, I always inform parents of safety concerns or significant issues. I also encourage open communication and can share general themes or strategies being used, while protecting your child’s privacy unless there’s a risk of harm. I believe that the parent-child relationship and bond are key to progress and healthy growth.
